RECITAL INFORMATION (May 2019)


  • REHEARSAL: Wednesday May 15th & Saturday, May 18th at Red Oak High School Fine Arts Center
  • This is NOT a dress rehearsal (no costumes). Dancers will wear dance clothes and bring dance shoes. Food and drinks are not permitted in the auditorium! Please check the rehearsal schedule that was sent home for your time or check our website, otmdance.com.
  • RECITAL: SATURDAY MAY 18TH 6:00 pm & SUNDAY May 19th 2:00 pm & 5:30 pm
  • Red Oak High School Fine Arts Center: 122 HWY 342 in Red Oak
  • Programs will be available at the recital for $2.00. There will be a recital order posted in the studio, if you need to know the order beforehand. Please carefully check the spelling of your dancer’s name on each dance to make sure it is how you want it to appear in the program.
  • All Dancers need to be in their dressing rooms NO LATER than 5:30 pm for the 6:00 pm show/1:30 pm for the 2:00 pm show / 5:00 pm for the 5:30 pm show! The auditorium will open 1 hour before the show.  PLEASE don’t save seats.  We need to allow time for dancers to clear out of the dressing rooms from the first show. You will not be able to get into your dressing room until everyone from the previous show has exited.
  • Come dressed in your first costume with hair and makeup ready to go!! Hair needs to be pulled back out of the face and make sure they have on a little makeup, so the stage lights don’t “wash them out”. Dressing rooms will be labeled for each class with a picture of their costume.  All Preschool and Kindergarten classes will be in one area. Please label all of your things to make it easier to keep track. We recommend you come and dress your child between dances.
  • Please check your email for Back Stage Mom Sign-Ups (Sign-Up Genius). We need some moms to volunteer to stay with our younger classes (Preschool-2nd Grade) in the dressing rooms.  We have the shifts listed by songs.  You will NOT miss your daughter’s dance. We will come and get them 3 numbers before they dance and you may go into the auditorium to watch.  After they dance, you can meet them in their dressing room. 
  • Each show will be about 2 hours & 15 minutes, so please bring coloring books, small games, etc. (nothing messy that could ruin costumes) for your child to have in their dressing rooms.  Also, PLEASE take dancers to the restroom before dropping them off and between dances! All classes will take a bow in the Finale except for the Monday 10:00 Preschool Class. Please pick them up where you dropped them off immediately after they perform.  Everyone else will need to be picked up in their dressing room immediately following the Finale. Due to limited dressing room space, please send one person to the dressing room to pick up your child and plan on meeting your family in the lobby for pictures, etc. 
  • Reminders and Helpful Hints!!
  • -ALL jazz and tap classes will wear tan tights and all ballet classes wear pink.  Make sure you have the right color of shoes! (black tap, pink ballet and tan jazz)
  • -NO panties under tights! (unless you have one in a pullup….then please, go ahead!) No jewelry! (unless it’s part of the costume!)
  • -PLEASE layer their tights if they are in more than one dance (i.e. If their tap dance is first, put their pink tights on UNDER their tan ones).
  • -All hair needs to be pulled back and out of the dancer’s face. Please talk with your child’s teacher about specifics for hair. For preschool classes, it’s easiest to pull their hair all back for both dances.
  • -NO food or drinks backstage (except water) 
  • -Please put everything in one bag with your child’s name on it.  If you decide to take your child from the dressing room, please tell the mom in charge of that group, so she doesn’t panic and think she is missing someone. 
  • -Media 21 is taping the recital and you may pre-order a DVD now or buy one at the show! The students will watch these over and over!! The little girls always love watching the big girls dance. The DVD’s will be mailed to you in June.
  • Other Information
  • ALL ACCOUNTS MUST BE CURRENT BEFORE THE RECITAL. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE UP-TO-DATE ON TUITION AND RECITAL FEE NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY May 15th!! Ask at the front desk if you have questions or email  at katie.otm@gmail.com.
  • The last week of classes will be May 20-23rd, the week AFTER the recital. We will have our end of the year parties and do our dances one last time! The girls are welcome to wear their favorite costume to class this week if they want to. Perfect attendance awards will be given out in class this week as well.
  • Fall classes will start after Labor Day.  You can pre-enroll now and save $5.00 off the registration fee before June 1st.  Classes will fill up and close, so if you need a certain day/time, please enroll early.  Open House at the studio will be on Saturday August 24th! Check the website, otmdance.com for more info!! The fall schedule will be available on the website by the end of July. 
  • OTM Summer Dance Classes and Camps information and enrollment are available online (https://otmdance.com/summer-sessions). Make sure you “like” us on Facebook, so you can stay up to date with important information, etc. Please email me with any questions or concerns you may have at onthemovedance@gmail.com. You may also call the studio phone and leave a message and one of our staff will call you back (972-775-3646), but please note that the studio is closed over the summer other than summer sessions. Voice messages are only checked occasionally, so email is best.

Recital fees are now past-due, $35.00 per dancer.

Dad’s Dance

 Every year in our recital we feature our OTM Dads in a dance.  Our OTM students get to run out at the very end and enjoy a few minutes onstage with their Dads.  Dad’s Dance Practice will start on April 29th and continue every Monday until May 13th, from 8:45-9:30 p.m.  Any Dads who would like to participate are invited to attend.  Our OTM students who will participate with their Dads will NOT need to attend the weekly practice.  We will need them to attend with their Dads on the specified rehearsal date in Red Oak.

Recital Tanks

Recital Tanks & Tees will be on sale starting Tuesday April 23rd.   Our Recital/T-Shirt theme this year is “All That Jazz”.  The T-Shirts will be black with red and white print.  We will have forms at the desk and a downloadable form on our website.  All orders will be due by Thursday, May 2nd at 8:00 pm.

Recital DVDs

Media 21 is once again filming our recital  DVD’s are now on sale.  We currently have copy of the form on our home page under forms and hard copies available at the studio.  You will also be able to purchase DVDs at the recital.

 Just a reminder that the recital is on Saturday, May 18th and Sunday, May 19th. Please note that we will be at Red Oak High School Auditorium this year. 


There will be three shows, one at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening, one at 2 p.m. on Sunday and one at 5 p.m. on Sunday. The list for the shows is in the lobby as well as on the website (otmdance.com). We will have rehearsal on Wednesday, May 15th and Saturday morning, May 18th. Each class will have a 30-minute time slot and then you are free to go. For those of you that are new to OTM, we do not have a dress rehearsal, just a rehearsal on the stage. It goes very quickly. I will send home a rehearsal schedule at the first of May.
